Is this all that there is to life? There <i>has<\/i> to be more.\u201d<\/p><p>These are the thoughts that would drift into my mind as my head hit the pillow after an exhausting day of wake-up, work, tv, sleep. It was usually followed by a lingering thought of \u201cOne day. Maybe one day it\u2019ll all change.\u201d Maybe one day I wouldn\u2019t have to numb my potential with chocolate cake and re-runs of NCIS.<\/p><p>But I had no idea how to get to that \u201cone day.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>So I waited.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>I waited for someone to give me my dream job. I waited for a teacher to tell me I was special. I waited to be discovered by someone I admired. I waited for a blog post to go viral.<\/p><p>And as I waited I got more and more tired.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6278528 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6278528\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>My life felt like a treadmill.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp; <\/span>Sweaty. Exhausted. Achey. And waiting for someone else to press the stop button.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7cf03ac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7cf03ac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>So many of us feel like that- like we\u2019re on the treadmill of life.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Burnt out from constantly moving but not actually going anywhere.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>But how can we get somewhere? How can we get off the treadmill and actually do meaningful work? Work that nourishes and fuels us?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e7dd630 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e7dd630\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It turns out that science has the answer-<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-120e854 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"120e854\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>According to research out of Harvard, the key to fulfilling work is to take small steps towards our most important dreams and goals.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>It\u2019s called the Progress Principle and it\u2019s written by Teresa Amabile and Steven Kramer.\u00a0<\/p><p>They looked at over 12,000 pieces of data and they found that \u201cof all the positive events that influences work life, the single most powerful is progress in meaningful work. Even when progress happens in small steps, a person\u2019s sense of steady forward movement towards an important goal can make all the difference between a great day and a terrible one.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><p>Small wins are shown to have a surprisingly strong effect in long-term productivity.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-524f1bd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"524f1bd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Which means that lasting success isn\u2019t about a one time breakthrough. Lasting success is based on small but consistent steps towards a goal that matter to us.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0256cbf elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0256cbf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>I know from my own experience how much impact these small steps have. My life today looks completely than it did just two years ago. And I owe it all to setting aside 30 minutes to an hour every day and giving that time to one goal that truly matters to me.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>What matters most to you?
