I didn\u2019t know where I was going but I was in hurry to get there.<\/p><p>I stopped. Closed my eyes. And took a deep breath.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>I\u2019d felt like this before.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0028add elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0028add\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-4411909\" data-id=\"4411909\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8619494 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8619494\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>I was in the middle of an anxiety attack.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-c04686d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"c04686d\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-e41f4af\" data-id=\"e41f4af\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-adaf203 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"adaf203\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>And I knew the message caused it. The contents of the message wasn\u2019t devastating. But it was triggering. And my brain and body didn\u2019t seem to know how to handle it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>I took another deep breath and reminded myself that I wasn\u2019t in any immediate<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>danger.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>It didn\u2019t help.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>I took yet another deep breath<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>and tried to remember what my therapist<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>told me to do in this situation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-c24faa8 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"c24faa8\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-cfc1688\" data-id=\"cfc1688\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0a4cb41 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0a4cb41\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>It was a 54321 technique, but I couldn&#8217;t recall exactly what the 54321 things were.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6b13ac5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6b13ac5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-da56171\" data-id=\"da56171\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-04fb901 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"04fb901\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>They came back in fragments:<\/p><p>Five things you can see\u2026<\/p><p>Some things you can hear\u2026<\/p><p>One thing you can taste.<\/p><p>I knew I wasn&#8217;t<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>remembering everything perfectly<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>but it didn\u2019t matter.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>By focusing on my breathing, the taste of gum in my mouth and the sights and sounds around me, \u00a0my errant heart starting slowing to it\u2019s usual rhythm.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-11a940f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"11a940f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-2fbc669\" data-id=\"2fbc669\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>That technique didn&#8217;t actually save my life that day but it felt like it did.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-a56c000 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"a56c000\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>So I\u2019d like to share it with you.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">It\u2019s actually a proven way of treating<\/span>\u00a0 <span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">anxiety attacks.
