I’m a born-and-raised island girl<\/strong> from Trinidad and Tobago. I\u2019m also super proud to have been one of five people selected to be mentored by Gary Vee<\/a> <\/strong>and his professional network.<\/p>

But what I\u2019m most proud of is the work I\u2019ve done in the past few years serving over 185 entrepreneurs<\/strong> throughout the Caribbean. This work has made me realize something that I\u2019ve unconsciously been learning since I was 4 years old – that entrepreneurship can be a powerful vehicle for greater financial freedom, economic equality and social change.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

My Story<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

You may not know this but I grew up in poverty<\/strong>. When I was a child my grandma would wake me before sunrise on Saturday mornings to go to the local market. Not to buy, but to sell. Obviously as a child I did not want to do this. I don\u2019t think my grandma wanted to do this either. But because our family felt ignored by government and forgotten by the world, we really had no choice<\/strong> but to tap into our entrepreneurial spirit<\/strong> to survive. This resilience, this unbreakable hope<\/strong> that is the heartbeat of entrepreneurship, is something I\u2019ve also seen in the hundreds of entrepreneurs<\/strong> I\u2019ve served. If you\u2019ve started a business or if you\u2019re thinking about starting a business I\u2019m certain you know exactly what I mean.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

While my personal and professional experiences taught me that yes, the world can be an unequal place, it also taught me that entrepreneurship is an effective and practical path to create a more equal world<\/strong>. In the past year I\u2019ve worked with non-profits<\/strong> that also believe this. It doesn\u2019t matter if it\u2019s the area of girls education, climate resilience, survivors of gender-based violence or agri-preneurs, these non-profits are seeing that people don\u2019t want handouts, they want the opportunity<\/strong> to build a business that gives them the ability to take care of themselves and their loved ones.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After serving almost 200 business owners as a marketing coach and consultant, I\u2019ve realized that as entrepreneurs we have similar needs<\/strong> in terms of the support we require to grow our businesses. Because of this I\u2019m creating a non-profit<\/strong> and an ed-tech platform<\/strong> to serve hundreds of Caribbean entrepreneurs. This platform will provide resources to reduce the barriers to starting and scaling a businesses.
